Poem -

Innocence to Truculence

(Inspired by Lord of the Flies, by William Golding)

Innocent ones who play about.

Thinking life goes on just like this-

Going day by day without a doubt

That Heaven brings mostly goodness and bliss.

Soon, though, they must learn to endure.

Storms will form and tides will change.

They will lose life that cannot be returned,

And the conch will soon begin to fade.

Here, arrives a loss of sanctity.

Young gentlemen turn to savages.

And soon comes a loss of sanity,

Which brings about far too many damages.

Last night, in a dream, I think I met Death.

I fear, so greatly, that anon comes my time.

He says that soon I may be put to rest.

But, perhaps, I'll be able to change this ominous rhyme.

No innocent ones will play about anymore.

All of them have vanished.

"Life" is done, and comes only war,

Wreaking nothing but havoc.

So, Time goes on,

And with it Death,

Taking innocence, childhood, and every last breath.
