Ode to Pi

Pi-  what an odd thing it is
This never-ending number that may seem amiss
After all, it cannot be expressed by any algebraic equation
But, please, do not think that pi is an abomination.
The number 3.141592
is here, in the world, to serve you.
Even though pi cannot exactly be expressed as a common fraction,
You mustn’t have
such an awful reaction.
It can be expressed as 22/7
But it’s only approximate, so remember this lesson.

You should also love circles
because they and pi relate
Just like pi, circles will never terminate.
This strange little number
can find us the circumference of a circular piece of lumber
Or perhaps another circular object
such as a mug
After all, a circle is the only shape
that can give a true hug.

A vigorous life it’s been-
The life of pi
This odd little number,
whose decimals reach the sky,
has been mocked and made fun of all throughout time.
Unfortunately, to some, pi does not seem so great.
And so, to those people, I really must state,
“Believe the irrational, and do not hate.”

Pi is precious.
It’s been here since the start.
So, make sure you keep it,
safe, in your heart.

I loved the first line - that is how I have always regarded Pi - such a strange and odd thing. Loved the tribute to Pi  - thanks
