Death's Sorrow

Many years
ago I stood in this
spot.
Many tears
ago I cried at
this place.
Now my worst fears
have come and
here I am.
To this moment in
time, I am
froze.
In my head
my sorrow
grows.
All I can think is, now
just like his, your body will begin to
decompose.
the preacher ahead of
me, so tall,
talks of you.
As I hear the words,
my knees buckle and I fall,
meeting the ground beneath me.
Oh how I wish
there were a way to call
but there are no phones where you're going.
As they begin lowering
the coffin,
my heart is left in tatters.
This moment is the last
time I'll see you,
nothing else matters.
Everything is out of focus.
A scream rips through me
as my world shatters.

Hi Rebecca,
Really is a very pretty as Chantal has said, yet heart felt and very sad poem, as well... So true to life, is the words told and how do so many of us, have remember the words and the manner in which you tell this poem, from true life experiences and the job you did, bringing this one,(back to life), was one well done and through an inspiring heartfelt presentation...Thanks for sharing your true feelings.......

Jim, I appreciate your compliments. Most of my writings are how I have felt at some point which makes them great for people to relate to. thank you so much. The poem reminds me of the loss of my grandfather and the loss of two of my great aunts.
