Poem -

Despair

Marooned on this island,
    in the middle of nowhere.
surrounded on all sides,
    by this sea of despair.
My life is the land,
    upon that which I stand.
My hopes and my dreams,
    represented by sand.
Waves of tribulation,
    roll into my bay.
Little by little,
    my life washes away.
As the tide rolls in,
    my feet become wet.
Now soaked to the soul,
    I drip with regret.
Sharp winds of remorse,
     lay open my pride.
Stripped and lay bare,
    nowhere can I hide.
As slowly the sand,
    washes out from my feet.
This sea of despair,
    I'm destined to meet.
When finely this ocean,
    surrounds me about,
Extinguished will be me,
    like a match put out!
