Determined To Survive

Winter weather is moving in so fast.
Roaring winds, stronger than the past.
Those without homes, take shelter where they can.
Our city is working hard to come up with a plan.
Some have tents all around the river bed.
Others sleep in a worn down garbage shed.
The community try to hand as many blankets out.
Hats, mittens and especially warm coats.
All ages are wandering, some are even ill.
Determined to survive, many find the will.
Food is given out at different places throughout the day.
Volunteers from all over to help in everyway.
We have crime, we have mental illness worse than before.
Yet there are some places like the gym, that will open the door.
So many faces, trying hard to get through another day.
Its so sad to think of where they are, or can we help in any way.
