Diamond In The Rough

I've dreamt,
a thousand times,
thatĀ there is light,
that in my home,
I am not alone,
yet when I awake,
all I hear is silence,
in this loneliness,
there is no one to speak,
no one to break with,
only this,
only the moment,
we have now.
I contemplate,
as I have so many times,
to jump,
to slice,
to pop,
to merely slip,
like a golden coin,
from the wicked,
where it no longer belongs,
left,
in that black,
where it is never found,
where it now belongs.
Even the prettiest,
most perfect diamond,
was once,
in the first days,
just a lump of coal,
hard,
dark,
ignored by the world,
even as it begs to be heard,
for the glory it can be,
as it should be,
no one hears it,
no one cares,
only he,
with the perfect heart,
dares dust off the darkness,
to let you sparkle.
