Poem -

discovery

First Man on the Moon
His heart pounding with anticipation,
A mix of awe and fear in his chest,
As he took his first tentative step.

The silence was deafening,
No sound but his own breathing,
And the faint crunch of his boots,
As he felt the lunar regolith beneath.

He looked up, saw the vast expanse,
Of a sky without color or sound,
And felt tiny, insignificant,
In the face of such infinite wonder.

The Earth rose majestically,
A blue and white jewel in the black,
A sight that filled him with pride,
Yet left him feeling oddly isolated.

He thought of all who had come before,
The dreamers, explorers, and scientists,
Who had made this moment possible,
With their ceaseless curiosity and persistence.

He stepped onto the pale grey surface,
And as he stood there alone,
On the desolate, lifeless moon,
He felt a strange mix of emotions:
Triumph, humility, and wonder.
