Disintegration and Persistence

Nothing ever stays the same
School friends, work colleagues
Fade away
Leaving fond thoughts
And happy recollections.
Perhaps it’s best,
Once everyone’s left
To move on to pastures new:
Old offices can become haunted
With the voices no- longer there.
Situations change; perhaps there’s
No point in clinging to
Old scenarios- now disintegrated
What persists are memories:
Impressions made upon the mind
That can pervade on occasions:
Replayed but unrepeatable.

Hey Michael... first, I have to say I am a HUGE DALI fan....I don't think there is a work of his that I'm not familiar with...... anyway, I think you've done a fine job in translating this painting into poetic fashion ~
