Premature Dismount

An image of relational grace,
vaulting toward a perfect 10...
then plummeting to the floor
bouncing up & back down again.
A couple well out of balance,
tiptoeing across life's narrow beam,
a seeming exercise of futility
living out the initial dream.
Both watching for faulty moves
and keeping an unhealthy score;
realization creeping steadily in...
no future is left in store.
Finally throwing up arms in surrender,
enough drinking from this poisonous fount,
now ending this broken routine for good
with a premature dismount.

Thanks for the feedback! Â My daughter just started gymnastics, so the concept of a relationship in gymnastic terms popped into my head. Â Simple Bliss is a stronger piece but I had fun with this one. Â Thx again!*!*!

My Dear Jackie,
Your lovely poem makes me want to do crazy things.
Like take a running "vault", and do a double flip.
Like riding a "horse" bareback.
Like instead of writing these words, to "ring" you up.
I am "beaming" all over.
I am so happy, that I'm going out for a drink at the "Parallel Bar".
Peace and Love,
