Don't Say You Weren't Warned

(Be Prepared)

Don't Say You Weren't Warned

Who knows what next year will bring?
And the year after?
And each year after?
Earthquakes, hurricanes
And forest fires.
(There will be more than this)
After the "Happy New Year'
Is said
Don't say you weren't warned.
Be prepared.

We'll wake up to the inevitable
News of a mass shooting on
An American university campus,
A politician will resign in disgrace
And there will be revelations
Of child abuse which has gone on
Unreported for years
Because we were all looking
The other way.
And a forest fire.

Don't say you weren't warned.
Be prepared.
