Doused My Fire

Doused My Fire
Â
Â
You doused my raging fire that burned inside
You left me drowning in my foolish pride
Â
How our once sparkling love used to shine
We lost our way that isn’t hard to define
Â
We used to cause a fire in our burning bed
Followed our passion and that’s where it led
Â
We used to make love like a house on fire
We completely quenched each other’s desire
Â
And now the passionate waters run still
It appears our hearts have had their fill
Â
Now were tangled in a spider’s web of lies
Of lost hopes and seemingly endless alibis
Â
And now the once raging fire has all but died
Once upon a time for my heart you eagerly vied
Â
We no longer quench the thirst of mutual desire
Our house of cards burned down in a flaming fire
Â
Our love is like puzzle pieces scattered on the floor
I can’t help myself but to reach out for the door
Â
We grew together and then slowly grew apart
I want to embark on a journey of the heart
Â
No longer want to live in the dark shadow we cast
Why is it always the bitterness that seems to last
Â
I used to bring you bouquets of spring flowers
And now I’m drowning in endless rain showers
Â
Resentment like morning glory did nothing but grow
And the mutual unhappiness we came to know
Â
They say that blessed love can conquer all
We had to face our inevitable flames of our fall
Â
Ashes carried on the wings of a heavenly white dove
We say goodbye to our once caring and passionate love
