Down the road

We lament of those we have lost, and taken from us
this place we're in no longer for them to reside, time and tide shall not wait
we raise a toast in their honor, and put on us tattoo's of rememberence
their visage chiseled in the mind, the ties that had bound, and memories made will be the monuments we build for them
kept safe in our hearts, inscribed on our souls of who and what they were
hark, and hear their voice on the passing wind, peripherals show their countenance in the reflection on a window pane
and our dreams keep them alive though last breath had been drawn
the line for them had been toed, a "goodbye" too final and not to be said, instead, we'll say "I'll see you down the road"
and when our time comes we'll raise a toast, this time together again, our family and friends
