Poem -

I Have These Dreams

I Have These Dreams

I have these dreams;
They appear to me
In colors bold.

 Vivid sightings
Of your presence,
Unknown—

As though trying
To catch smoke,
They evade my grasp
Evermore.

These dreams punish me
What wrongs have I done?

To awaken from the depth
Of night—
I am shaken.

Shackled to them,
For they be part
Of me—and I, you.

Dreams that never belonged
To me—but to whom,
Do they belong?

Another life, perhaps,
Another realm,
Another time.

I have these dreams
Like boulders, placed
Upon my shoulders.

I envy my waking life;
For sleep can no longer
Taunt me.

My dreams offer
No solace, no sanct.
What ails besmirch me?

They test my strength,
My character, my fortitude.

My worth be decided
In slumber’s sullen embrace:
I have these dreams.
