Poem -
Drowning
The lonely people of this world,
You run hither and yon to pass a few hours,
You are frozen in time,
You laugh but never feel it,
You cry but never heal,
Alone in your darkness,
Crying noiselessly,screaming silent,
You cling but ever reach out,
Quiet agony,fading hope,
Running in never ending circles,
You are trapped within yourself.

Barbara, so glad you found the site, and welcome....took me a while to find you, I guess that when you register it takes a while to be 'seen' but perhaps it's because it was the weekend....so I really like the way you constructed this poem, perfectly describing loneliness and isolation without over writing, or hiding in a metaphor, the way you wrote it fits the subject matter, very clever approach....you have a very clean and lean style, easy to read and understand, looking forward to more of your excellent, cheers poet Ā

In Love Addicts Anonymous this is called Anorexia - Ā terrible plight to want to connect with others, but not having the tools or self-love to do so. Ā The rock group America sings a song - Ā "This is for all the lonely people." Ā As people learn to connect with True Self over false self, Ā they can learn how to become their own best friends.....it is a lot of work, Ā and much grieving work involved, but worth it. Ā Cheers.
