Drunk-Love

CocktailÂ
Cockfail
You’re drunk againÂ
Mixed drinkÂ
Mixed emotionsÂ
Try thinking soberÂ
Multiple shotsÂ
Multiple plotsÂ
You keep orderingÂ
Pitcher perfectÂ
Picture perfectÂ
From drunk eyesÂ
Hungover againÂ
Hungover painÂ
Still same problemsÂ
Alcohol callsÂ
Alcohol fallsÂ
Your name againÂ
You answerÂ
You catchÂ
Maintaining the patternÂ
Alone, afraidÂ
Alone, unsafeÂ
Numb the painÂ
You feelÂ
You needÂ
But you don’tÂ
Your weekÂ
You’re weakÂ
Put the bottleÂ
Down nowÂ
Move onÂ
Overcome the painÂ
Don’t countÂ
Don’t loveÂ
Your buzz moreÂ
Than yourselfÂ
Than healthÂ
You got thisÂ
You canÂ
You willÂ
If you tryÂ
Angry soberÂ
Happy buzzedÂ
Sad when drunkÂ
Regretful afterÂ
Disappointed afterÂ
But then youÂ
Drink moreÂ
Drink noneÂ
Break the patternÂ

WOW!! ROBERT!!.....that was a great read/write!!....and it's so damn true.....the cycle of addiction is so vVERY hard to break.....the pattern seems to have a will of its own when you're caught up in it!!...trust me....I know!!.....ALL STARS!!....great stuff dear poet brother!!.....LOVE & ROCKETS!!....T xo Â
It’s a familiar topic for quite a few, I have had it under control for awhile now so I’m forever grateful. Poetry really helps prevent relapses or temptations as I wrote when I get the urge versus indulging in the vices. Thank you Tony for the read and kind words of encouragement and relating to me.Â
Hi Robert,
Very good -
I hope that you're staying sober!
Regards,
Terry.
I used to be a case a beer a week and then some, I researched it’s not smart to quit cold turkey, so I slowly tapered down my usage and now I’m less than a 6 pack a week average. Absolutely no liquor at all for me, that’s been over 4 months and I do not miss it. Thanks for the words of encouragement, I like to write about it still to keep myself in check though and reread old poems relating to the turmoil it brought. I appreciate you taking time to read and comment.~RobÂ
