Dysfunction
In todays generation
relationships are based on games
cheating
lying
followed by trust issues
Leaving people withÂ
insecuritiesÂ
doubts
andÂ
an influx of anxieties
Always wondering
what their partner is up toÂ
and
who they are talking to
which leads to,Â
checking up on their social media accounts
and
looking through their
likes
comments
replies
questioning why they put that kind of emoji
or write a complimentÂ
on that female’s/male’sÂ
picture on InstagramÂ
All of a sudden,
it escalates to a fightÂ
from 0-160
like a category five hurricaneÂ
with an exchange of strong words
not realizing the extent of the damageÂ
it has on the other person
Saying things out of
spitefulness and anger
tears start pouring down
drenching all the surroundings
Four hours go by and things calm downÂ
just like the eye of the storm
The fight is typically resolved with anÂ
“I love you”Â
just like magic things are better
Little do they know it’s onlyÂ
temporary
because something will alwaysÂ
trigger another one.
Once trust is gone, it’s never
the same again.
“I love you” has lost it’s meaning.
It’s thrown around so freely
like the oxygen we inhale
Those words need to be reservedÂ
only for someone who we genuinelyÂ
care about,
a one of a kind type of person.
Unfortunately this is considered theÂ
“norm” in today’s societyÂ
And the sad thingÂ
is that most people expectÂ
to get hurt like this when they get into new
relationshipsÂ
because they themselves have experiencedÂ
it before
not realizing that not every person is the same
The most tragic thing of it all
is that people actually
settle down and accept
this kind of behaviorÂ
because they “love” that person
and areÂ
afraid of being alone.Â
That’s not love,Â
but self-destructive behavior
So many cynical individuals out thereÂ
It breaks my heart.

Love what you wrote here I think we can all relate to this thank you. Feeling the emotions and the power that love has on us sometimes we do need to draw a line, no one deserves to be treated this way.Â
This was like reading about my 16 year old daughter's life! She hasn't yet got the hang of understanding that jealousy is nothing more than a destructive parasite, feeding the fuel of discontent. It's an unfortunate part of everyone's personality, it's how it's dealt with that sets some apart. I have tried to live by the mantra that if someone cheated on me then they weren't worth my time or tears anyway. A well written and enjoyable piece. Thanks.xo
