Echoes at Night

Echoes at Night

I fell in love with her

the first time I saw her.

She was beyond me of course.

But she didn’t seem to mind.

She was a lot younger than me.

I always thought I would go first

but nature has its own plans.

I still dream of her smile..

She always knew

the perfect thing to say

when I was happy

sad or often broken.

How was it

She always made me feel so young?

There have been other imposters

over the creeping years.

I have acted out

the staged movements of love.

But when the evening light faded

It was always you honey.

You were the only one

who knew how to fix me.

This poem just draws you in and you can feel your sadness. Nice wording. Great poem.
