Echoes In The Night

As day turns to night

And on comes the street light

Another body drops cold to the ground

As the onlookers gather around

Another mother has lost a son

Another life has been undone

Another wife has lost a husband

Another person has lost a friend

Another child has lost a father

A crying son and a daughter

A crying mother and a wife

Another family’s ruined life

But on and on continues the fight

Their cries echoes in the night

Howls and screams pierce the air

As people stand with cold empty stares

Bodies dropping like dominoes

As echoes in the night grows
