Edge of the River

I walked to the edge of a river
looked down and smiled, and I let 
whatever perceptions of the 
past slowly fade away, and
as that river flowed I realized
that this is how my story goes,
I am that river, and my 
destination is unknown and
I trust that wherever it is taking
me, I will eventually come to 
understand why, and I will look
back to where I came from
with joy in my heart, and comfort,
knowing that all it took was
one single step, to get me
to the edge of the river.
