The empty chair

The empty chair

A table set with crackers

A candle centerpiece

A room dressed up with tinsel

A fancy Christmas tree

An empty chair lies dormant

In the middle of the room

For a loved one who is absent

Taken much too soon

Each year there’s a present

A dinner place that’s set

Drinks to toast a loved one

That no one will forget

Looking down from heaven

When they see an empty chair

They can take comfort in the knowledge

In spirit they’ll be there

So dress your room with tinsel

Take in the Christmas cheer

Remember all your absent friends

Shedding a few tears

Your loved one’s watching over you

From heaven up above

The empty chairs a symbol

Of remembrance peace and love
