End Of Summer Shadows

End Of Summer Shadows

They came on the wall with some pale magical,
magnolia pushed white windows, nothing in at all;
perhaps you could see into your soul so they say,
someone said that we can be heroes just for one day.

We made love in the moonlight down to the stream,
blue grey shadows made nothing as it would seem;
took us away like Jagjit and Chitra singing along,
they said just listen to the love of our ghazal song.

Louis Kahn said you've taken 45 and made it thirty,
which was fine, straightened, no difference to destiny;
in fact, our love strenghtened right between our eyes,
didn't slope so much as soft summer said it's goodbyes.

We may lean you back when the sun's higher in the sky,
dream, dream, dream, when I want you, I don't have to try.
