The End?----Written October 22, 1962--The night of JFK's Cuban Missile Crisis Speech

He gave us so much at the start,
The stars, the trees and flowers.
All we had to do was play our part,
And forever we'd live within His Heavenly powers.
Rolling oceans to sail upon,
Snow capped mountains to climb,
The sky to gaze in wonder on,
What we did was such a crime.
How could we have been so blind,
To use his gifts this way?
The answer to that, I'll never find,
He took them all back yesterday.

PPS(Poem Post Script)-I remember this night, like it was yesterday. When I showed it to my siblings the next day, they all said basically the same thing, "It doesn't make any sense, how would you know if you were dead?". I knew then we thought differently and I like the way I thought more. As Peter Gabriel said," I know what I like and I like what I know".

Thank You Kei, Kei for your kind words. I think at 13 I didn't understand the idea of "pride". I grew up thinking people(mostly my peers) didn't understand me. My teachers were happy with my work. I was actually embarrassed when I did well on exams and others failed. If you were smart, you weren't "cool". It was not a matter of pride, it was more like, "Okay, this is me, I like myself, Take me as I am, or don't "take me". One tenet that has guided me through life is ---Regardless of physical, mental, financial, social or any other kind of "standing" you could think of, I knew(in my Heart of Hearts), I was just like everyone else and they were like me. No rich person was better than me and I was not better than the person living in the cardboard box over a subway grate. We were/are all spiritual beings just try to get to "Life's Next Phase" as best we can. Sorry, Boy once I start typing I just ramble on. Thank You again! Be WEll!
