Endangered

Endangered

Opening my eyes for the very first time
by my mothers side without a single crimeĀ
The sun is shining
I am playingĀ
We are slidingĀ
My mum is smiling
I'm anticipating to explore the landsĀ
Without having to hold her handsĀ
Soon I’ll no longer be a pup
Soon I’ll be all grown upĀ

Suddenly I can hear sounds of laughter
The noises started to scatterĀ
Bang bang bangĀ
They’re attacking herĀ
My own motherĀ
She protected meĀ
Pushing me to the seaĀ
To set me freeĀ
Telling me to spreeĀ
With no time to disagreeĀ
The monsters didn’t want my mumĀ
They wanted me, to slit my throat
But this time they’ll return to their boatsĀ
Without my warm white coatĀ
Ā
Five, ten, fifteen minutes go byĀ
I’m getting low on air supplyĀ
I’m afraid to see what aboveĀ
I wish everything could just be undoneĀ
Gasping for one more breathĀ
Circled by all their deathsĀ
Feeling as though I’m about to drownĀ
Whiles fleeing this crazy battle groundĀ

My arms are getting heavy
I don’t think I’m quite readyĀ
My legs are starting to burnĀ
I don’t know where to turnĀ
Swimming as fast as I can without thinkingĀ
I find myself trapped in this thick green netting
I don’t want to moan
As I am not aloneĀ
I wish this wasn’t realĀ
I think they want me for their mealĀ

Unlike the others I mange to set my self freeĀ
With this thick green netting all around meĀ Ā
It’s weighing me down
I don’t want to drownĀ
Five days go by everyday is a struggleĀ
Swimming around stuck in this rubble
You are destroying my homeĀ
With no safe place to rome
Up to 200 species extinct everydayĀ
There’s no time to delayĀ
5 of my kind are endangeredĀ
It’s time to make changes!
