I Found An Enemy in My Ally

I found an enemy in my ally.
The person who’s words would comfort me, Now send me trembling with fear.
Roles have switched, secrets come between those who we used to be.
Tension seem to rise, as does the anger wanting to be let loosen.
The control the person desires over my own life, is nonexistent in my eyes.
I am me, my own life is mine, no force will get the final say in the path that is my life.
Unreasonable anger is your weapon, to ingrate fear in me, I simply mock it.
When I used to scream and fight back, you knew I cared, but now...
I blank and freeze you out.
It scares you that you’re losing me, with each daunting second, When you keep trying to assert the final say with a swift hand.
The threats of me making your choice easier, used to frighten me, Now I find my own voice, in charge of my present and near distant future.
Each passing day, I do grow older, and I may grow wiser. The ally I knew, is replaced with an enemy I trust.
Where the person sees black and white,
I see the hues of blues and reds that seeps within the life around me.
Moving on, is what I must do,
I’m sorry, I stand on my own two feet, with no cent to my name.
The enemy I found in my ally.
