Enslaved

Enslaved

This thing!
Of it, I am enslaved and I cannot be free
It beats
It bangs inside of me!
The rhythm, a pounding?
An anthem?
A call!
To its master, it pleads
And surrenders all.

But of it, shall not
Acknowledge he
The pounding
The anthem inside of me
And so I sit
As it breathes, it beats, it bleeds
Tormented by beautiful
Memories
Of yesterday’s love
