Escape From Me

Escape From Me

And I would float upon a dream
To elude the unrelenting scream
Emitting from behind these walls,
Haunting capacious, hollow halls;
The battles of a mangled family
Have long since taken a toll on me,
Yet it appears to be nowhere to turn
To find tranquillity for which I yearn;
What I’d give to be spirited away
From this ongoing sanguine fray
Infusing breath into ancient fears
Persistent through my latter years

Let humid mists envelop my soul,
Stripping away my sense of control
While transporting me to this place
That brings a smile back to my face…
Lavender clouds sing mellow lullabies,
Crimson light dances across the skies;
Daisies sprout, drinking an eager sun
Here, where nature and I are one…
Far removed from my tortuous life,
Absent remains any instance of strife
Were it possible, I’d stay in this place
Residing only within imagination’s space

Take me now, to the stars and above;
Embrace this broken spirit with love
Unknown in the existence she must live
Before mind and heart begin to give…
Allow me to run to the edges of the earth,
Finding solace in an empyreal rebirth
And departing from this realm of pain,
Chaotic desperation and frigid disdain
Is there a way to wash away the sorrow
Looming over my luminescent tomorrow?
Wailing for release, I’m aching to be free…
Won’t you help me in my escape from me?
