Eternal Sleep...

Eternal Sleep...

Every night I lie awake
till morning comes, I have not slept
every night I am tired
risen has the moon, I need to rest
night after night I write in place of sleep
and I wonder, and I turn over; sleep writing
let the light fade away

So that I may sleep that final sleep
lay down and rest this restless body
eternal darkness; fall upon this land
endless silence; fill the corners of my mind
perhaps sleep will come then
