Euro Go Again

Euro Go Again

We must avoid 'nil pois' (no points) in Eurovision Song Contest,
but since UK left Europe, we're no longer regarded the best;
since 1956 we've won a few timesĀ but those days are gone,
perhaps we'll stand more chance this time with our latest song.

I went to Venice, where Byron and Shelley once roamed,
where prisoners walking over the Pontevecchio moaned;
there was Paris in the spring where you wanted to go again,
magic was in the air and your great interest would never wain.

I imagined my enemies being thrown to the lions in Rome,
my wife thought I was ungracious, - 'You wait till I get you home.'
we went to Brussels, the UK nemesis, up in the mountains,
when we came down, there were statues of boys peeing in fountains.

She wrote the song, and we wished the best to Mae Muller,
if she really happened to win, then we'd all certainly love her.Ā

NB. We just avoided 'nil pois!Ā
