Poem -

Ever since you died

Let the sun have it's moment
The moon will come

That little lines been stuck with me ever since you died

A small line

And I won't lie

I rarely actually stop to think about lines.

They either land or they don't

But this one

This one I've been stuck on

Let the sun have its moment...

I've been thinking

No

Recalling

So many times where I took a happy moment and felt it didn't fit me.

You see

All of us have our night skies

Our darkness

And however different the alignment of our particular stars might be

After a portion of time

That moon will come

So I'm recalling

All these moments

Where I saw the sun shining

And splattered black paint across it

Because I'd only ever known my reflection the way it looked in moonlight

I never could let the sun have its moment.

To impatient to refrain beneath the moon

As that brightest star sets now

I find myself sunburned

That tomato red may not be the aesthetic I'm used to

But ever since you died

I make sure

To let the sun

Have its moment
