EVERLASTING

EVERLASTING

All things are made to pass,
While I am here I make it last,
 Embracing the earth's giving
Glad I am for all the receiving
Every breath I take, fills me with joy and ache,
When I cast my eyes on a bed of roses
Aware I am of the dangers it poses:
Before reaching for the petals, at very last,
Passing all the thorns first I must

With all the danger, loss, and ache
I wrap my arms on a tight embrace,
 Drinking the earth’s every breath
Before the things I love come to rest

I keep loving the things I love
And must remember it is worth every ache
 Since every breath is everlasting
When I live the breath I take.
