Eye of the Beholder

I met a man who's name was Telescope.
Knew how to tell a joke,
Not much of a selfish bloke.
More like selfless,
Helping the helpless folk as often as he smelt his nose.
Telescope's only problem was that he looked too far into things.
The hot topic of his optics was what was in his pockets, instead of what was in his heart.
He considered himself a failure because the contents of his wallet were somewhat microscopic.
But if generosity were currency,
He'd have had a chicken that laid Fabergé eggs on a private island in the tropics.
Unfortunately he saw life through an exaggerated lens,
Too busy focusing on what was in the distance that everything in plain sight became blurred.
Until one day, when he met his dream lady.
She loved the stars as much as he did,
Touched his soul and made him feel things.
He had feelings he hadn't had since he was a fetus,
She took his breath and left him speechless.
Her name was Clarity and that's exactly what she gave him.
Clarity taught Telescope how to zoom out and see life through her specs,
It gave his perspex a new perspective.
Experience and experiments had left his self-worth shattered,
But she showed him that he was rich in all the things that truly mattered.
She taught him that his compassion and liberality were worth more than some stupid billion dollar property,
And those who stated differently were just preaching fallacious policies.
Clarity helped him look inside himself and appreciate his finer qualities,
Yet he still somehow managed to maintain a great deal of modesty.
I hope that whoever's reading this finds some Clarity in their life,
And you learn to view the world around you instead of just staring at the skies.
