Eye Shadow

Eye Shadow

You force me to look into your aware eyes

They are dark, butĀ catatonia's goneĀ

You come alive in a whisper, you ask me to light

your burnt cigarette Ā

Remembering the sweetness we hadĀ

We lost ourselves in a tasteful decadenceĀ

Chasing lost dreams and moments until

we ran into the old church

It reminded us of a childhood we lived too fastĀ

Becoming adults while still crying for attentionĀ

Weaning off milk and cookies for wine and roses

Feeling the knifeĀ of heartbreak but not the cutĀ

That's where we should be again

Innocent first loveĀ

Raven to turtledove

Fire to match

Blaze to candlelightĀ

Drop to catch

Let me catch a star that's faint

Make a wish we'll always rememberĀ

AndĀ that star will burn

Light a memory that isĀ emberĀ

As IĀ wipe your tears awayĀ

The eye shadow that you put on

as warpaint against me

and my jealous eyesĀ

is now beautiful..
