The Face of Anger

The Face of Anger

Have you seen it?

Like a whirlwind tearing through the trees in its fury?

Warping the face of nature?

Like a convulsing earthquake toppling over cities?

That’s the face and rage of an angry man

Where destruction and danger awaits on his hand.

Why indulge yourself in the passion of anger?

Is it not like sharpening a knife to thrust into your own breast?

Or perhaps murder your own friend?

As you lose all control and understanding, at best?

While you still have all your sanities

Let the wrath of the angry become your pieties.

Why do something in a raging passion?

Would you go out to sea in a violent storm?

Avoid falling into a fury

Only a fool is provoked with an insolent form.

But a wise man with no revenge

Will laugh them into scorn.

Therefore, encourage not revenge in your heart

It will only torment you;

It will darken your feelings

And draw down mischief on your own head.
