Fade Away

He drowns in his booze
Continue's to refuse
This man is growing old
As his heart is growing cold
He simply, give's a shove
To those offering honesty, and love
Yet, he seem's okay
Getting lied to every day
He missed, seeing his children grow
For the woman, running his show
Makes a year, he has not spoken to me
He will be old and lonely, before he can see
What he has missed, after all these years
All the dreaded tears
Those who care have cried
His heart, had only been applied
For her witchy, ways
After all this time, far away, he stays
The child he refused to hold
Is now twenty- four years old
Yet, to me he is weak
When, to his own child he cannot speak
She has a child of her own
Offering all the love, that was never shown
From a father's touch
Now, she know's this much
He will die, one cold hearted and lonely man, lacking a soul
Missing out on love needed to make any heart whole
Poor, poor father of mine
Putting the love of your family on the line
Your Grand daughter is doing absolutely fine
Incase you were wondering, father of mine
I must say though
Your love, she deserves to know
But when Grampa does not appear
How are we supposed to hold, your memory near?
She does not even know your face
For me the memories, continue to erase
Fading in the foggy mist
For, we can't remember what does not exist
