Fairground Ride

Fairground Ride

I was on a roller coaster in Paris, no side bars,
we were on tiny cars going halfway to the stars,
my nephew said that was nothing, dropped to ground
at great speed never failed to produce a shrieking sound.

My son wanted to go on every ride, no fear inside,
bring on the adrenalin rush, exciting, we nearly died,
we went down helter skelter, dizzy it seemed to me,
reminded me of a colleague who'd designed a chimney.

I shouted at my son who'd got lost in a tricky maze,
should have known that he was going thro' a silly phase,
now surely the ghost train is really just for kids,
but I can tell you that under me it put the 'skids.'

Finally, we brushed passed candyfloss and a bearded lady,
maybe I was mistaken but she looked exactly like my neighbour.
