Falling Apart

Falling Apart

Tears in eyes
He packs the van
Books C D’s clothes
All that he owns

Been two years
Since they first met
And fell in love
Now he’s alone

Falling apart

Breaking up is breaking his heart
He never thought they’d ever part
And as he leaves for the final time
Closing the door slowly behind him
His hopes and dreams lay shattered
On the floor

Locks the door
Pockets the key
Walks down the path
Future unknown

Tears in eyes
He starts the van
A final glance
And he is gone

WOW!! ROWLAND!!!.... this was painful to read!!.... It brought up some memories so profoundly in me......I think you've captured the hurt a man feels so brilliantly.... Because of the short phrasing it's reminiscent of the way men typically try to hide their pain.... and THAT is brilliant brother poet.....I got that choking in my throat that you get when you try not to cry...... stellar formatting..... succinctly powerful phrasing......PINNED!!!......well conceived and BEAUTIFULLY delivered !!........LOVE and ROCKETS!!......T xo ?✳✴☀

Hi, Tony. Thank you for your deeply thoughtful comments on "Falling Apart". It's a poem based on someone I know going through exactly that situation and those emotions. Your perceptive comments in respect of the terseness of the poem exactly reflects the profound sadness, the utter numbness , felt by the subject of the poem! What is there to say; what could or should be said in a situation that many many people go through at some time in their lives when, often, there is no one around to listen? And thank you for "pinning" the poem. Kindest regards and best wishes.
