Falling of the Leaves

Falling of the Leaves

Autumn with the falling of the leaves
My life seems as barren as the trees

My heart is cold and turned to ice
But I am willing to make a sacrifice

The wicked fall winds continue to blow
The road to loneliness I have come to know

The raindrops pool on my window sill
Life’s become a battle and it’s all uphill

My footprints washed away on the beach
Happiness seems so far out of my reach

My love is a shipwreck just off shore
If I had love I couldn’t ask for more

With the winter storms of falling sleet
All hope is lost on bustling city streets

My heart was once in the right place
All of these lonely hours I have to face

Want to feel love draw near to me
Unlock my shackles and set me free

Love is a stranger in the dark of night
How I want to be in the his sights

I will bite the bullet till hell freezes over
Until someday I find that perfect lover

I pray in silence deep into the night
Maybe God can make things right

I want to know love in all of it’s glory
This brings to an end my sad story
