Falling up

There must have been ..
There must have been 
that pivot point 
of twist in space 
and shift in time
where from was in 
and come since when 
his here turned there 
and now turned then
 that somehow 
what he knew as falling 
ceased to be his truth

Perhaps it was 
That where and when 
what reaching light 
that once gave proof of up, 
 and as it slipped away from view.       did so for down as well, 
And as he fell,
unheld its grasp 
and reeled its touch
so back 
to black 
So back 
withdrew 
till all he was 
was all consumed 
By dark as deep 
as dark of tomb 
that from now
all he knew 
of falling 
Seemed of little use

Oh 
to fly
Would not 
'to fall'
Be flying 
If 
'to fall' 
was free 
from stop 
of downs decending?

If counting down was never ending
And dreaded thoughts 
of grounds impending 
end to drop
were found to be unfounded,
Would downward 
still be downward? 
Would then 
to fall
Not be
 to fly?
