Familiarity Ceased

Familiarity Ceased

Four walls empty stalls,
Familiarity ceased,
Isolation, incubation,
Familiarity ceased,
Caged in locked in,
Familiarity ceased,
Queue up, keep apart,
Familiarity ceased,
6 feet, no less,
Familiarity ceased,
4 legs, no more,
Familiarity ceased,
1 walk exercise,
Familiarity ceased,
Want not need not,
Familiarity ceased,
Love care for a stranger,
Familiarity ceased,
Independence critical
Familiarity ceased,
Insignificance realised,
Familiarity ceased…

Being Me

I am astounded by the amount of very different styles and angles in which poems about the isolation are written. And I am loving your style here. I like the quick fire lines and the all important repetitive "familiarity ceased"... It works being read backwards too (I tried it).  And how powerful are those two words "insignificance realised"....  What a horrible realisation that is for us all. Great poem x

Graham Marshall...

Aww thankyou so much, yeh this Covid thing has been plentiful for inspiration... just goes to show the effect it has in so many different ways, I think I've wrote 4 poems about it & I don't think I'm done ?, I've not tried reading it backwards, would that count as another poem? Haha. Thanks again xx
