Fate Found My Achilles

With you I was invulnerable, I conquered all my foes;

“Veni, vedi, vicis” sent, wherever I would go!

The driving force of me was you, your love made me possessed;

Each battle that I fought and won, because I was tutored by the best!

I’d have to leave you many times, to make our coffers full;

But you’d be there to greet me on my return, when into camp I’d pull!

You’d shower me with untold love, and melt my hardened heart;

But as I look back, I’m very sad, for too often we had part!

So I decided I would stay at home, but my decision came too late;

For my achilles had been exposed, to our ruthless foe named “Fate”!

He sneaked right in and stole you way, as I slept, unable him to fight;

Then this warrior lost all his will, for “my love”, I lost, that night!

Now the swords and shields that protected me, are rusted from no use;

My heart was broke a thousand times, I’ve called an eternal truce!

The only battle I now will fight, is the one within my soul;

That with you was so invulnerable, but now’s no longer whole!
