Poem -

Father and daughter

My beautiful baby girl
You have finally arrived
The moment you took your first breath
Is difficult to describe
I used to talk to you in the womb
And kiss your mummy's belly
I would feel your kicks against my lips
You would turn my legs to jelly
I said that I would care for you
And protect you from the cold
I said I would be there for you
Until I'm grey and old
You have my heart
You have my blood
My love is here to take
I will cradle you until you sleep
And feed you when you wake
I will calm you down when you cry
And clear your eyes of water
Because there is no greater love
Than from a father to a daughter
