FATHER AND SON CORRESPONDENCE

FATHER AND SON CORRESPONDENCE

Father, John DeFoore Sr
98 years old

I never learned
to speak
the language
of the harp

or hum
the melodies
of the
treasured viol

I struggle
under the weight
of the
gigantic bass

but tingle
with delight
at the sound
of the flute

until my heart
sings in symphony
with music
unknown and undreamed

while I stand
in concert hall
made grand
by universe

I take the podium
raise my baton
and ten thousand
angels play with their hearts.

I do so long to respond to your poetry
With something equally grand
It appears you wander in realmsย
of universes and stars,ย
Choirs of angels and galaxiesย
at your beck and call
I on the other handย
bounce from side to sideย
when I shake my head
Cranium bound,ย
following nueronal pathways,ย
navigating synaptical crossroads.
Thoughย
putting it in that lightย
both are grand arenas
for observerย
perhaps equally valuable.
As one observer to another,ย
โ€œwell reported my friendโ€

Itโ€™s has been a fun way for my father and I to communicate.
he and I both have a hard time sleeping, hence poetry conversations. Normally no one sees them. Thought I would share this one,
thank you for reading

Thank you Tina, we regale each other in the dead of night, filling sleepless hours,
with poetry. Hones our skills and eases the loneliness of long sleepless nights.
His books and poetry have taught me a lot.
Thank you for reading.
