Feather of Our Freedom

As an Indian Brave I fought a grizzly bear attack
My tribe was in danger, my baby was sleeping in our teepee, the women, crying
With all my power I used my tomahawk that I had made from rock and bone
Split the bear's skull, then he fell, protecting my family and tribe
I went in front of the Tribal Court and told my story with pride
The bear skin now is a coat my grandmother made it from the hide
I was given the most honorable mention for my good deed
The eagle feather laid into my hand, which stands for trust, honor, strength, wisdom, power, and freedom
Now I must show the feather to all of the people to see, to recognize its worth
I wear it in my head dress, as I am no longer a Brave, but an honorable old Chief of the Cherokee kingdom
Now, many eagle feathers I wear, they connect me closer to the heavens
Where I'll rest my head some day, with native belief of the gods of the sky
Like the meaning of the american flag to the white man, the eagle feather we salute high
Our ceremony of dance and spirit will last for all eternity
The drums play, as the heavens sing and rejoice in harmony
I stand here now, tall and proud, as I call out loud
I pledge to the feather of our land, with the highest magnitude
As the eagles soar, let them bring the feather of our freedom, for this land that we still love
