Poem -

Feelings of a Phoenix

Life, the incredible test has me incredibly stressed,
Though through my family I feel incredibly blessed,
Facing more problems than ever but feel at my best,
Walls closing in, yet next to my wife I get incredible rest.

Seeing through the lies of a modern day society,
Answering our problems with pills of ever variety.
Quit self-medicating and embracing my sobriety,
Dust myself off and rise from the ashes quietly.

Slow and steady because life’s problems can be heavy,
I shed my shackles of addiction now I’m rough-and-ready
Set down the pipe and letting go of weeds that were heady,
Filling into the untapped potential that was there already.

All praise due to the love of family and the Most High,
Having those connections there’s no feat I won’t try,
Spent years looking at me feet now I stare at the sky,
And like the Phoenix I’m reborn and ready to fly.

The last four stanzas of this poem are riveting!!! Love love love. On a personal note, this poem had special meaning for me. I had always hoped to have a second child named Phoenix as my daughters name is Raven. Beautiful words of strength and life experience. XO
