Festivities

Parties

Festivities

weather is cold, nights are drawing in,
Halloween and Christmas the festivities begin,
parties and presents, lights and decoration,
makeup and dresses, too much to mention.

Tinsel and mistletoe, pumpkin and ghosts,
these are the things that I love the most,
Turkey and treacle, Mistletoe and New Year,
Bonfires and sparklers, the holidays are here.

Excited children and laughter, Santa is coming,
The thought of the cost is sometimes numbing,
 but when Christmas morning comes,
and you see the little faces,
Glaring at the stockings on the fireplaces.

The fish of the sea

Cleverly constructed, Sharon, I feel like this isn't the first poem you've written. It has a technique that only comes with constant practice. Just awesome flow.

Thank you. I've only just started show casing my work due to negative influences in my life. Much appreciated

Being Me

Love the way this is written. it made me think of that song in the Sound of Music ... these are a few of my favourite things ... which is apt because Christmas is practically eveyone's favourite thing ... isn't it?  This poem has such a lovely flow. It is a teat to read!
