Fifty-Two

Fifty-Two

In a regulation deck of cards, they number fifty-two;

One for every year you’ve lived, today, the age of you!

I remember well that longest day, so many years ago;

Your Mom’s water broke at three a.m., and to the hospital did we go!

But in those days, there was no Lamaze, a Husband’s need was none at all;

They let me stay with your Mom a while, then sent me to the hall!

The waiting room was always filled, with anxious Fathers pacing floors;

But I was much more fortunate, for my Parents lived almost right next door!

So instead of sitting in a barren room, with no beds on which to sleep;

I went over to my Parent’s home, and had their company to keep!

I ate and slept and rested well, finally, the nurses called at three;

To tell me I had a new Daughter, whom we named our “Steffanie”!

I raced back to the hospital, to hold this bundle of new found joy;

My beautiful little baby girl, prettier than “The Iliads”, Helen of Troy!

Today the years are fifty-two, since that day when you were born;

And I’m sending all my love to you, for I know your heart’s been torn!

That was a lovely birthday greeting my Larry and I`ll bet she loves it too. You never told me that you have a daughter. She`s beautiful and I love her gorgeous long hair too and she certainly doesn`t look her age. Give her my love and wish her a happy birthday for me. You are such a handsome beasty, it`s nice to see another picture of you too sweetie and you certainly don`t look 71, you must tell me your secret. Linda is a lucky girl as no doubt she already knows.

I love you deeply sweetie

My Dear G,

Thank you for your beautiful words.  Yes, she is gorgeous and certainly does not look her age.  As for my secret, I take after my Daughter.  I tell Linda how lucky she is every day.  Ha, Ha, and you know we both love you dearly.  By the way, we mailed your Christmas gift yesterday, and if you're a good little girl, we'll let you open it early.

All our love,

Linda, Larry and Little Cody

Hi Our Dear G,

Point well taken!  Since you be little, but you be fierce, and the whole world knows of your goodness, how could we ever deny you opening your surprise early.  We can assure you, that when yours arrives, we will do the same.  'Tis the season to be jolly.  Maybe we should make the next 24 days, ones we devote ourselves to putting our periods of sadness on the back burners, and both write words that will bring "Joy To The World".

We three love you all,

Linda, Larry and Little Cody

Hi Dear Debs,

Yes, I was only twenty when she was born.  Hmm, since you're only a year older than her, does that mean that I should think of you as a Daughter?  Ha, Ha.  Thank you for your loving words on her birthday.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

xox Larry

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,

I must admit, I have been in Tony withdrawal for a while.  I have felt like my deck of playing cards isn't complete.  I have compared her beauty to Helen of Troy, but yours I equate with the determination of Paris.  You honor my sweet Daughter and me with your powerful praise.

Peace, Love and Rockets,

xox Larry
