Finally

Finally,
after all these working years.
Finally I feel some pride.
All these years of thinking;
Work is life ,
not the other way round.
Finally I feel some pride.
Now, please don't get me wrong.
Every job I have ever done,
I have done with pride.
To my best ability,
I just put the bigger picture aside.
Strange how the winds of fate blow wild.
Carer, through necessity, for far too many years.
Professional help needed now,
so suddenly free .
The fates blow wild and free.
Something bigger planned for me .
Opportunity.
This, my tiny island nation, needs new homes.
They have to be good homes.
This our beautiful planet, already hurting now,
cannot endure more harm.
A new way of clean building,
takes new kinds of builders,
new minds.
Passive housing, costing no money,
doing the planet no harm.
New minded people need to be trained.
I now work for Toolshed.
We take young people.
16 to 18 ish,
that did not fit at school,
we train them in construction skills.
Offer a future for them to find.
Now that future has changed.
The training has to change.
Toolshed will be building houses.
Passive houses.
Young futures.
I am construction marketing manager.
I am full of so much pride.
We start the first house in October.
I shall probably cry.
Let their futures fly.

Great Write brother. I see the ambition
Thank you Greg,
When I went for the interview I thought they were looking for somebody to market their small build / maintenance service which is how they have trained for the last few years. Oh no, that wouldn't help them learn how to build the next generation of housing we need. So we have paid the patent licence to build the Beattie Passivhaus system and it's my job to get us involved with the new expansion of my home town. I thought I would be marketing new kitchens but now I am trying to build a new town. Daunting and exciting.
Thanks again Greg
Nigel
So nice that you are putting something back to the community Mr C
Well written
Thank you Kieran, I supposedly have 10yrs before retirement and to have the chance to spend those years helping to create futures for young people just starting out is very satisfying
Thanks again
Nigel
