Poem -

Fire and Ice

You burn bright like a distant star
Exploding into existence long ago
Yet the fire in your soul never diminishes
Your luminescence creeps it's way across the solar system of my frigid galaxy
Slowly heating up everything I once thought frozen and lost to the empty void.
As your warmth seeps into the ever growing cracks that make up my being,
I feel the heart of me begin to thaw.
Invading your way into my existence until I can't recall what it was like before your celestial body
Decided to light up my dark skies.
Your fire has melted the ice within me,
Causing the flood gates to break,
No longer able to hold back the things I had once frozen into submission.
All at once, I realized that if this is what it's like to drown, I never want to be saved.
