Firefly

Firefly

I screamed your name up to the sky
and at the stars
but you didn't reply
I cried me a river
that flowed down stream
I watched every mountain
crumble to sea
I watched the Raven fly on high
looking down,
looking he was, looking down at me
where are you, my beloved darling?
no longer with me
are you sitting on a rainbow?
or are you napping on a cloud?
please, please, I just want to see
I screamed your name up to the sky
and at the stars
but you didn't reply…

and I know you never will.

What I really like about your poetry, well it's one of quite a few things actually, is the feel you have for setting out a poem to suit what you are writing about. Something I have yet to learn but something that seems innate with you.
Love the short lines and your occasional rhymes and of course the reappearance of the raven. My favourite line - or are you napping on a cloud? It's brilliant.
Never say never my dear Shirley. 🙏

Thank you dear Bernie, I like to be versatile and as you spotted, when I speak of Grief my Raven seems to appear, it's a subject that I do love because grief is such an emotion, which has no rules its different for each of us, and its something that plays out different to each individual, me I write about it, in the hope it may help someone who relates. In the end we are left with the beautiful memories but it never goes away it simply quiets. Thank you dear Bernie happy Monday my dear friend. 🌹 Ps fireflies are special because when I came to live in Tuscany it was after I had experience my first grief, I'd never really seen so many fireflies in my life until then. 🌹

Happy Monday to you dear Shirley. Today I swapped my shirts over at long last. Only short sleeve from now on. Yay. Not ditched the jeans yet though. That's a step too far. 🌹
