First Date

I wasn't expecting to meet you today.
My hair is unkempt and my dress somewhat plain.
But here you are before me,
Your beautiful blue eyes pierce my heart.

I have thought about this day for so long.
Imagined your smell and the detail of our first exchange.
In my dreams I wear a long gown
And hold you close.

Am I enough for you? 
Do I carry the virtues  that are required to make you love me?
Will  you love the sound of my voice and the gentle feel of my touch?
Will I make you happy?

Long months have passed in my preparation for this day.
I have talked about you with my friends
And they have sagely said ' just wait'
And so I did.

I wasn't expecting to meet you today.
I had not contemplated the explosion that you would create.
But the warm winds blew upon my face and here you are.
My son, my greatest  love.
